Yoga Nidra for Healing

Yoga Nidra for Healing - Recorded Live 8-21-2019

Yoga Nidra, also known as yogic sleep or sleep with awareness, Yoga Nidra is an ancient practice that is intended to induce full-body relaxation and a deep meditative state of consciousness. Practicing Yoga Nidra cultivates the witness consciousness; that part of your awareness that watches what occurs in the physical body, emotional reactions, and habitual thoughts. Yoga Nidra is a systematic method of complete relaxation, holistically addressing our physiological, neurological, and subconscious needs.

During a typical session, teachers use a variety of techniques—including guided imagery and body scanning—to aid relaxation.  Unlike a quick Savasana at the end of asana practice, Yoga Nidra allows enough time for practitioners to physiologically and psychologically sink into it.

My voice will act as an anchor, which will keep you awake and in the present moment. If the mind becomes overactive with thoughts or worries, return to the sound of my voice and continue the practice with ease.

The script for this class was arranged and heavily influenced by Cheryl Brown, Dharma Mittra, and the Yoga Nidra Book by Satyananda Saraswati.
