 I didn't want to be hurt.

I was stuck in survival mode. I had been a "lone wolf" most of my life, alone, afraid.

As a gay kid in Iowa, with two moms, friendships were sparse. Fast forward to 18: I joined the military, hoping that would be the answer. But it wasn’t. Being gay in the era of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” and going to war only made me form trepidatious friendships, never truly letting my guard down to make lasting connections and always running away or arguing with people to push them away.

After leaving the military, I used substances to numb my pain and loneliness. I chased toxic relationships. I almost took my own life.

 
 

I was surviving.
But I wasn’t thriving.

In 2017, I hit rock bottom. This time, I chose to turn my life around. I wanted structure. I wanted guidance.

I looked to yoga.

Surprisingly, it all started with Instagram, scrolling through my feed and seeing people I knew talking about yoga and meditation. Their beautiful poses looked like expressions of their souls.

I was so nervous about starting yoga. But on September 17, 2017, I committed myself to the practice and began utilizing this holy science of the body, mind, and spirit to create a roadmap that aided me in healing myself. As a teacher, I began sending it back out, which became another way to heal. Through this path, I have found to be at service. I have found my Dharma.

When I look around me today, I see so many people who are in the same place that I was in - alone, afraid, surviving - but not thriving. I feel so much power in my heart and body, but so many do not. My work is about giving you a roadmap, specifically tailored to your needs and your unique history, to support you in realizing your power. You have the power to thrive. Yoga

Yoga has been used for centuries to support people in healing from trauma and chronic physical and emotional pain. As a 200-hour certified Hatha-Raja yoga instructor, I invite you to slow down, focus on firm foundations, alignment, and breath work to cultivate a sense of oneness between the mind and body and to heal. Use this time to explore your limits with grace while creating space for forgiveness, gratitude, and self-love. I offer private yoga sessions and community classes.

Meditation

Meditation is a mindfulness practice used to support introspection, conscious awareness, and reflection. In contrast to common thought, meditation can take many shapes and forms - not just your traditional yogi sitting crossed legged chanting OM. My goal is to support you in finding and learning a practice that is best suited for your needs. Being able to be present and cultivate attention in a non-judgmental space is critical to healing, and I am here to support you as you embark on that journey. To that end, I offer private meditation sessions and consultations.

Reiki

Sometimes, our vibrations, or our energy, gets knocked off, and a tune-up is helpful to get us back on track. Originating in Japan, Reiki is an internationally practiced form of energy healing. As a certified Reiki practitioner, I offer sessions to hold space for your healing and to support you in giving attention to your vibrations and energy field.
